The Beginning of Fairies

Cyclamen

When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.  And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy.  So there ought to be one fairy for every boy or girl.  ~James Matthew Barrie, Peter Pan

  1. When we read that book as a read aloud, and read sentences like that one, or the part about a mothers' kiss - we were a little taken by surprise at how 'deep' it was! :) Besides that though, we really enjoyed the book. Our library has it dramatized (so it is nearly unabridged) on audio, which we thoroughly enjoyed - especially Nomi! She listened to it over and over again, and can quote large chunks of it, much to our amusement.

    Have you read the book?
