In a nutshell, it was the Beatitudes and scripture memorization. I was curious how you guys memorize verses.
I am semi-looking forward to another day of "work". Knitting away at gloves, crocheting away at baby blankets, and working out on the Wii Fit are all intense actions. Of couse, I'm not getting paid to play Wii Fit, like I hope to get paid for the other two.
Perhaps we will go to town, perhaps I will go on a walk, and perhaps I will read some of Nicholas Nickleby.
Perhaps it will be a good day.
It will DEFINTELY be a good day to try and serve others.
Oh the joys of modern technology; don't you just love it?
ReplyDeleteI like to memorize big long chunks of scripture; I can never remember references so it makes more sense to work on long passages rather than isolated verses. Also, I feel learning a lot of isolated verses can tend to lead you out of context; that is, it makes it easy to take verses out of context.
So I pick a passage, and read the first three or four verses over and over again, read them aloud, say them to myself throughout the day. Next day when going to scripture the first thing I do is repeat the verses I learned the day before, and then add another three or four verses, say them all together; by the time I am done at least the first several verses will be ingrained pretty deeply due to constant repetition.
Memory is like a muscle; it will strengthen and develop as you use it, but if you don't use it you loose it.
